ARCHAEOLOGY TRAINING COURSE

Course Provider: TerraArchaeology

Goal: To provide RISC Certification to students who successfully pass course requirements.

Audience: Those interested in working in-field on archaeological assessments.

Prerequisites: None required.

Certification: Students will be provided RISC Certificates directly by the Resource Inventory Standards Committee.

Description: This one week (5 day) course includes both classroom and field components and is designed to provide each student with the skills necessary to understand and participate effectively in-field on archaeological assessments. A primary goal of the training program is to help students develop strong note-taking skills. This will enable individuals involved in future archaeological assessments to provide clear and meaningful information back to their respective communities.

Classes are usually scheduled Monday to Friday (5 days) from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a half hour lunch break. Actual class hours and schedule may vary.

Students will be expected to fully participate in all aspects of the course. The instructor will encourage students to focus in on particular areas of interest as and when time permits. Wherever possible, practical local information will be incorporated, and hands-on exercises utilized. Handouts that will serve as valuable reference material will be distributed to students.

Cost: $850 per person. Seats are limited. Register by May 15th - there is a waiting list, contact our Education Coordinator for more information.
